June joy for jobs - Select Appointments hails super summer jobs improvement

Leading recruitment franchise business Select Appointments has welcomed the latest Report on Jobs, which says the UK’s labour market has enjoyed a great start to the summer.

Leading recruitment franchise business Select Appointments has welcomed the latest Report on Jobs[1], which says the UK’s labour market has enjoyed a great start to the summer.

The report for June found that both permanent and temporary staff availability reduced, demand for staff and placements continued to rise sharply and there was a record increase in average starting salaries.

“This report is further great news for the UK job market which is now well on the way to a full-recovery,” says Graeme McKinnon, managing director, Select Appointments.

He added: “As each month goes by we have seen a steady improvement in the jobs sector, resulting in the excellent stats for June. There are fewer jobs available because more and more job seekers are now in work. Not only this, but employers are being forced to increase salaries as competition increases. All this is great news for the UK economy and the recruitment sector.”
