the Occupational Health and Safety Lead Board. It was in the first group of National Training Organisations to be recognised and was the first all-sector NTO.

ENTO is now responsible for the National Occupational Standards in advice, guidance and advocacy, including careers education and guidance. The organisation is at the forefront of enhancing and improving the performance of people involved in the development, management, health and safety and representation of people in the workplace.

In 2003, ENTO was licensed by the DfES to manage and promote the matrix Standard - the national quality standard for organisations delivering information, advice and guidance services. Since its launch, the matrix Standard has since gained a broad range of stakeholders and audiences. Almost 1000 organisations in England have now achieved the Standard.
