It takes two to tandem!

Eden Brown Managing Director Ian Wolter was one of 26,000 cyclists who last weekend rode from London to Brighton to raise funds for the British heart Foundation ñ but unlike the others, he then turned around and rode back to London.

It had been Wolterís lifetime ambition to cycle the journey and this year, to add a twist to the journey, he and Paul Waddington from Plaintext, an Eden Brown supplier, covered the route on a tandem.

ìBy the time we crossed the line our hearts were beating a little faster,î said Wolter, ìbut it was a great experience.î

Wolter set off from London at around 6am on the Sunday morning and arrived ìcheerfullyî at Brighton at 9.30am, completing the ride in a commendable three and a half hours.

In total, 26,000 cyclists took part in the ride and although it was not a race Wolter and Waddington were the first tandem bicycle to cross the line at Brighton.

However, they were not content with just completing the normal journey like most other cyclists they promptly turned around and rode back to London again ñ covering altogether an impressive 111 miles.

ìIt was very satisfying to complete the journey,î said Wolter. ìSo we simply decided to retrace our steps as it were and ride back to London.î

Eden Brown has an eight-year history of employees running the London Marathon raising a total of around 100,000, and each year they select a different charity to support.

The final amount Wolter and Waddington raised for the British Heart Foundation this year has not yet been calculated, but the overall amount raised by all the cyclists is expected to be around 3 million.
