Internet population grows in Hungary

.

The number of Hungarians with home Internet access reached 500,000 last year, up 70 percent on the previous year.

This is according to a survey local market research firm Netsurvey.

The survey also found that 550,000 people in Hungary have Internet access in school or college, and about the same number have access at work.

Home users tend to spend more time online. Seventy-five percent of home users spent at least three hours online each week, whereas only 58 percent of all Internet users did this.

Although the online population in Hungary increased dramatically last year, the country still lags behind most of Europe as only 18 percent of Hungarians over the age of 14 now have Internet access.
