Incentive World 2004, the UK’s largest promotional marketing, incentive and motivation event has generated positive feedback from many exhibitors that the quality of visitors that attended the exhibition was impressive.

Nearly 4000 buyers, many from blue-chip companies visited Incentive World 2004 to see brand new ideas and solutions designed to attract customers, drive sales and reward employees from almost 300 exhibitors.

Exhibitor feedback
Feedback from exhibitors showed that they were delighted with the quality of the visitors that had attended the exhibition:

David Evans, Chairman, The Grass Roots Group remarked, We had a number of excellent leads from high level decision makers in blue chip companies from the UK and US for both Pure card and our extensive range award services.

In a constantly changing and challenging market, it’s useful to be able to network with one’s peers and Incentive World was a great gathering of industry professionals and provided the perfect opportunity for clients and suppliers to be updated on the latest innovations and discuss the future of this exciting industry.

Tracy Aslam, Head of Incentive Business, The Kingfisher Gift Voucher said, We chose Incentive World as the platform to launch two major new offerings, both of which build on our expertise in the marketplace. I have no doubt that this was the right decision.

Richard Wood, Chairman of the BPMA said, Reed Exhibitions not only presented and managed the show well, they also succeeded in attracting the right people to this colourful and informative event.

Many of our 100 or so members at Incentive World have remarked on the excellent opportunity Incentive World gave them to establish good contacts and enter into meaningful dialogue with prospective clients. A number even commented that the show had exceeded their expectations.

The seminar programme, which the BPMA helped to create, was an undoubted success, with standing room only at many sessions. We are now looking forward to the prospect of NIS with enthusiasm.

Edwin Mutton, Director-General of The Institute of Sales Promotion remarked: The parliamentary visit was a great success, with key members of Parliament and the Department of Trade and Industry giving us the opportunity to put the industry’s views on the Gambling Bill and European legislation very directly and personally. We have also had a huge interest in the new awards online DISPLAY project, which we launched at the show.

Rachel Slater, Business Development Manager of Navigate Ltd advised, This year’s show was as productive as previous years, with visitor faces both old and new. Business on the last day was most productive and made for a good conclusion to a successful show.

John Sylvester, Director of P&MM and Director of the Incentive World seminar programme said, I am delighted with the success of the seminar programme. The fact that virtually all seminars played to a packed house is testament not only to the quality, variety and relevance of the programme, but also the thirst for knowledge that the visitors have in this field.

Laura Moody, Managing Director, Nomadic Display said, This year was the first time we exhibited at Incentive World and I am excited to say it has been a great success. We always set ourselves very ambitious lead generation goals for every show we attend and I am pleased to say we have managed to smash our Incentive World target by an amazing 192%!

It was great to be part of a show that delivered an unending supply of our target audience, visitors who were keen to talk to us about what we could do for them and fellow exhibitors who created a lively and energetic environment in which to do business.

Caroline Meechan of Marriott Incentive Vouchers said, If I wrote down a wish-list of my top 50 target companies, most were seen over the three-day period. This was particularly encouraging. The show was successful because of its size - buyers stayed for longer because the quality of exhibitors was so good, however the show wasn’t so big that buyers lost their focus.

Visitor response
Visitors were also impressed by the range of exhibitors and the variety of products, services, new ideas and solutions that were on offer:

Joanne Carpenter, marketing executive of AFX News who went looking for customer and staff incentives said after the first day, It’s been brilliant. There are so many ideas that I’m going to come back tomorrow. The seminars were very good as well.

Alison Summers, Marketing Executive, News International remarked, This was my first time at Incentive World and I will certainly be back again next year. I’ve found some great products and lots of new ideas to help motivate our staff.

I’m a seasoned visitor to Incentive World. I’ve found some great products again this year and I noticed a really good mix of expensive and less expensive products on show. I will certainly be back again next year, said Lynne Ben-Guira, Business Advisor, REED in Partnership.

Caroline Busuttil, Business Manager, SESi said, A really well laid out show with an impressive range. Good turn out for the last day.

I found plenty - and a good choice of new potential suppliers. It has been a very worthwhile day, remarked Chris Pullman, operations director of the Buckden Park Kart Circuit.

Onsite activities
The inspiring and informative seminar programme proved extremely popular with almost every session full. Illustrated with case studies from some of the UK’s biggest brands, the sessions offered unique insights into business techniques employed to attract customers, drive sales, and reward employees.

The New Product Pavilion showcased the latest and most innovative products and services available and the ISP and Motivation Awards’ Galleries highlighted some of the best promotional marketing and motivation campaigns in Britain.

In addition, valuable advice and expertise was offered by the BPMA (British Promotional Merchandise Association), ISP (The Institute of Sales Promotion), CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and the VA (Voucher Association).

Other notable events included a visit from the All Party Parliamentary Group on Advertising hosted by John Greenway MP, while an informal drinks reception including entertainment provided a perfect opportunity for exhibitors and visitors to network.

National Incentive & Motivation Week (19 - 24 April 2004)
To celebrate National Incentive & Motivation Week, Sir Clive Woodward, the England Rugby Team Coach, was voted the Motivator of the Year ahead of a distinguished list of business leaders and inspirational figures.

The Motivator of the Year award, organised by Incentive World, recognises an individual who is an outstanding achiever in a personal or career capacity. Woodward’s management of the England team to World Cup victory has been truly inspirational to people from all walks of life.
On hearing that he had won this Award Sir Clive said: I am honoured to accept the Motivator of the Year Award for 2004. In my job as Head Coach to the England Rugby Squad I am fortunate to work with so many talented and inspirational people, both players and management. I am a great believer that once you have carefully assembled a team of the right people who share a common goal, then motivation takes care of itself. Indeed the achievements of England in turn have served to motivate me and will hopefully act as an incentive to many others in rugby and the country as a whole.
I wish everybody involved in the Incentive World exhibition and the National Incentive & Motivation Week all the very best.
