GOJobsite comment on StepStone sinking - 11/2001

.

Following on from the announcement by StepStone to pull out of the UK, Keith Potts, GoJobsite managing director comments:

The Online Recruitment market is maturing. Those players who have run their organisations with a dotcom approach are now being weeded out by the age old need to deliver profits and offer clients real value.

The gold rush is over, and this week's events with Randstad withdrawing from New Monday, and Stepstone withdrawing financial support for their UK operation drive home what every sensible executive has always known. That to succeed a company must simply offer a strong business proposition to their clients and deliver it in a cost effective manner. Outrageous expansion and business plans based on branding alone are now mere blushes in the cheeks of executives soon to be spending more time in their garden than the boardroom.

It is important for recruiters and job hunters to understand however that there are strong players in the Online Recruitment Industry and for recruiters to realise the importance of choosing financially secure business partners with viable business plans. GoJobsite and Jobserve, for instance, have both maintained high levels of profitability and revenue growth consistently over the last 5 years. What connects the two companies? Simply a sensible approach to business that is based on delivering results to their clients and not massaging their egos with TV advertising and branded hot air balloons.

At GoJobsite we are looking forward to working in an industry where we are at last competing against common sense, rather than mere hype and spin.
