Logistics and Transport Olympians Revealed

The much-anticipated shortlist of finalists for the logistics and transport industryís Olympic event ñ The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) ñ CILT(UK) Annual Awards for Excellence 2004 - have been unveiled this week.

Sponsored again this year by Aptus Personnel, the Development of People Award for 2004 will go to one of the following finalists: Keuhne & Nagel, Menzies Distribution or Tibbett & Britten.

Overall winners for each of the 11 categories will be presented with their awards at a Gala Dinner Evening being held on 21st October 2004 at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square. Hosting the ceremony, GMTV presenter and 2002/3 Royal Television Society Presenter of the Year, John Stapleton, will present the logistics and transport crme de la creme with their accolades.

This yearís judges have undertaken a marathon task, selecting finalists from the greatest number of high quality entrants in the eventís history, and they represent a wide ranging cross-section of the logistics, transport and associated sectors.

Awards being presented to the industryís future managers are the CILT(UK) Diploma and Certification Student of the Year Awards, both sponsored by A.T Kearney.

The evening will then culminate with the Instituteís most prestigious prize ñ the Sir Robert Lawrence Award - presented each year to someone from within the logistics and transport sector who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession.

Commenting on the final line up, Graham Ewer, CILT(UK) chief executive, said: ìOnce again we have been delighted with the outstanding quality and quantity of entrants to the awards with some of the UKís leading organisations judged for their first class work, along-side many of the industryís growing names.

ìAchieving an Annual Award for Excellence continues to be a major goal for many within the UK logistics and transport sector. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of the winners and runners up at what is now one of the highlights of the logistics and transport calendar,î concludes Ewer.
