Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe report strong recruitment and motivation results

from 4th Contact online benefits system

The HR Project Manager at Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe reports that its implementation of 4th Contactís online flexible benefits system is providing strong recruitment and motivation results. The online system was implemented in July 2003.

4th Contactís online flexible benefits programme, branded internally at Fujitsu as Passport, is helping the company with its recruitment drive. Kathryn Dolan, HR Project Manager of Fujitsu, explains, ìWeíre currently gaining significant new business. To support this weíre going through a hefty recruitment drive and are looking for people at fairly senior levels with experience in leading-edge technology. Thereís a shortage of these people, but weíre finding that Passport is helping significantly. Feedback tells us that our whole reward package is a big incentive for good people to join.î

Motivation has also improved with the implementation of the system, according to Dolan. Following significant periods of change over a number of years, there were major inconsistencies and legacy issues in the way employees were rewarded. ìSince adopting online flex with 4th Contact, thereís been a positive shift in our perception as an employer. The inconsistencies have been eliminated and now people can see a transparent and equitable reward structure. There are many less pay-focused debates amongst employees.î

Fujitsu is continually developing the online flex system. The system was launched last summer and since then there have been many developments to suit the companyís particular needs. Leave tracking has been added, for instance, which eases HR and management headaches and the technology has also been specially developed so the company can work around a 15-month leave year.

ìWhat always surprises the HR team,î adds Dolan, ìis how user-friendly and intuitive the system is. Itís not complex at all to work with.î See 4th Contactís new website at
