Flexible job market brings good news for New company

A working mumís new business is riding high on the newest trends in the job market.

Entrepreneur Chloe Pyatt is passionate about helping others find the balance between work and home that she enjoys.

Experienced in corporate human resources, Mrs Pyatt, 30, launched Flexijobs from her Petersfield home for people who wanted more flexible working hours.

A year on, she has established Flexijobs in a unique position in the labour market, with nearly 40 client companies, some national, and more than 4,500 candidate employees.

Mrs Pyatt has now recruited two full-time colleagues and has big plans: ëThis business has huge potential which I canít develop on my own. Now we have the resources to continue expanding.í

Recruitment consultant Ali Jeffares, 32, also from Petersfield and Portsmouth University 3rd year human resources placement student Laura Anderson, 20, joined Flexijobs on 19 July.

Miss Jeffares said: ëThis is a new concept and itís exciting to join the company at this stage to see it grow.í

Mrs Pyatt had the idea of an agency specializing in flexible work while on maternity leave: ëThere are lots of well educated people in Petersfield and I was surrounded by mums saying they wanted greater flexibility.í

She put her success down to new working legislation, changing attitudes and her location: ëWe thought of putting an office in London but with modern technology and our place near several large business communities thereís no need.í

Candidates who now come to her new office in Antrobus House business centre, Petersfield, vary widely in age, skills and experience.

Mrs Pyatt said: ëItís not just about women coming back from maternity. Itís 50:50 men and women.

ëAnd, importantly, for companies itís about getting access to good employees which may be limited if you stick to the ënine to fiveí model.í
