Spring Personnel, a division of Spring Group, has found Bristol’s fastest typist

Spring Personnel, a division of Spring Group, has found Bristol’s fastest typist after a recent competition, which attracted over 80 entrants, was held at the Galleries shopping centre in Bristol. The winning contestant, desktop publisher Loulita Disomma, managed an impressive 86 words per minute, picking up theatre vouchers and a bottle of champagne for her efforts.

Spring Personnel invited candidates and plucky passers-by to test their skills on a specialist computer package, which determines and records typing speed instantaneously. The software used is offered as a free service throughout Spring Personnel branches to test competencies and provide training on all Microsoft office applications, as well as assessing skills such as audiotyping, shorthand and call centre capabilities.

Leona Blenman, branch manager of Spring Personnel in Bristol said: We would like to congratulate Loulita on being Bristol’s fastest typist, reaching a speed well above the average 50 to 60 words per minute that employers generally expect for a secretarial role. We have seen that there is still a real demand for proficient typists in the workplace, and it’s really encouraging to see that Bristol is leading the way.

Loulita Disomma said: I’m really pleased to have won this competition, although I hope it doesn’t mean I’ll be expected to keep up that pace all day everyday!

Spring Personnel consultants, based at Howard House on Queens Avenue in Bristol, are able to provide advice to job seekers looking to improve their typing skills, as well as all other office-based competencies.
