Executives Online Launches Project Recruitment Service

Senior managers from some of the UK’s leading companies say that managing their business is now like running a series of projects, according to the Now Management Report by interim recruitment specialist Executives Online.

The report found that pressure from shareholders and investors is forcing companies to take a more short-term approach to planning, with nearly one in seven organisations likening their businesses to managing a series of projects.

However, the research by Executives Online also found that many companies feel they do not always have the right internal skills to handle such a project-based approach. In fact 51% of the companies questioned said they would use interim managers to provide specific expertise for short-term projects.

In response, Executives Online has launched a new project recruitment service - dedicated to the needs of companies looking to recruit permanent and temporary project managers and programme directors.
(www.ProjectManagementOnline.co.uk). The site details the 400 project management specialists which Executives Online has in its 3,500 strong talent bank and provides advice to companies looking to resource their projects.

The site also features the Association of Project Management’s (APM) Body of Knowledge - a substantial resource identifying the 42 areas of knowledge required to manage any project successfully. This gives companies, plus Executives Online’s rapidly growing candidate community, access to the latest project management thinking.

The APM is the largest professional body of its kind in Europe, with over 13,500 individual members and 240 corporate members, dedicated to the promotion of best practices in project management.

To further strengthen its links with the APM, Executives Online has become a corporate member. The tie-up means Executives Online, as part of its project recruitment service, will be able to update businesses with the latest project management developments via joint case studies and major market research studies.

Meanwhile, candidates will also gain access to a number of professional development resources available through the APM, including events, publications, discounts on project-management products and services, and connections to Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

Norrie Johnston, Managing Director of Executives Online, says: Companies now have to be a lot more reactive in their planning, which means they might need to get a project up and running in a number of days. To do this they need experienced managers who can roll their sleeves up, get on with the job and deliver results.

This new relationship with the APM means will can offer talented project managers that are up to date on the latest project management thinking and practices.
