Executive Confidence Decreases Slightly

Executives remain uncertain about the employment marketís prospects in the months ahead.

A recent survey conducted by ExecuNet, a leader in executive-level job and networking opportunities, reveals executives remain uncertain about the employment marketís prospects in the months ahead.

According to the survey of 165 executives, 24% are ìconfidentî or ìvery confidentî the executive employment market will improve in the next six months - down from 26% in July. Sixteen percent (16%) are ìnot confidentî and 60% are ìsomewhat confidentî the job market will get better during the next six months.

ìA seasonal slowdown in hiring and mixed reports on the economyís recovery have subdued expectations for the employment market,î says Mark Anderson, President of ExecuNet. ìHeading into the final months of the Presidential campaign, we expect this uncertainty to linger.î

Those who describe conditions in the executive employment market over the past 30 days as ìimprovingî dropped from 38% in July to 35% in August.

Executives who are currently unemployed expect their job search will take a total of 10.9 months - down from 11.8 months in July. In the past 30 days, they had an average of 2.6 interviews - nearly unchanged from 2.8 one month ago.
