Employment Service hit 100,000 jobs online - 10/2000

ES to go online Nationwide

The Employment Service already has 100,000 vacancies on its new jobsite, and by the end of January 2001 all ES nation-wide job vacancies will be available through the Internet
Interactive touch screen kiosks will begin to be rolled-out in 1,000 Jobcentres across the country to allow jobseekers to search for vacancies themselves; and a major new service for employers will be launched nation-wide which will enable employers to advertise their vacancies by calling a single national telephone number.
Leigh Lewis said, ìWe are at the heart of the Governmentís modernisation programme and we want to deliver services in a flexible way that meets our customersí needs whilst reflecting
the changing approach to communications in a modern society. By developing its use of the Internet and telephone call centres the Employment Service will expand its current facilities enabling jobseekers and employers to access services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. îLeigh Lewis went on to say, ìAs well as the enhancements being made to the use of technology during 2000-01, we will be working even more closely with our delivery partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors. This will provide a wealth of experience and expertise to enable us to meet our aim, objectives and key priorities for the year ahead as well as helping to ensure the successful establishment of the new Agency in 2001.î
