CareerXroads to Assist SHRM with Volunteer Selection Process.

CareerXroads was selected last month by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to consult on the development of a process and technology that identifies potential candidates

Kendall Park, NJ, June 3, 2004 ñ CareerXroads was selected last month by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to consult on the development of a process and technology that identifies potential candidates for the Societyís Volunteer Leadership and Special Expertise Panels.

SHRM is currently revising their structure for recruiting, managing and utilizing volunteers ñ an important component of the HR organization. The volunteer program is somewhat unique due to the array of volunteer opportunities, the number of SHRM members and the need for accessibility across the organization. SHRM recognized that to dig more deeply into embedded networks inside and outside the Society would require a new way of thinking, new technology and, possibly, new models. They are looking to CareerXroads to help them find a viable option to more efficiently work with their volunteers.

ìSHRM now has more than 180,000 membersî, commented Crispin, one of CareerXroadsí Principals, ìand mining the Societyís members for referrals to identify and register world-class experts in every aspect of our profession while maintaining the disclosure, data integrity and credibility expected of SHRM is not a trivial task but it has enormous implications for advancing the HR profession and for SHRMís ability to influence its direction. Beyond that, every member has the capacity to volunteer and tools that help tap that power are going to drive associations in the future.î

ìWe are excited to work with SHRM on this a venture which has the potential to push out the boundaries of how all associations network both inside and outside their membership,î stated Mark Mehler, co-founder of CareerXroads. ìIt is an opportunity to translate our experience in recruitment and emerging technology to impact the volunteer worldÖand itís always nice to participate with an organization that weíve supported so long as passionate volunteers.î

SHRM and CareerXroads plan to develop an initial process that will be shared as part of an RFP during June with technology suppliers. Organizations interested in being included in the RFP should send their request to
