Odyssey Interactive, a leading provider of intranet solutions, has uncovered the HR benefits of the Intranet for a number of companies around the UK, helping to improve internal communications and increase organisations’ return on investment.

As well as providing a means of communicating internally across different company bases and making it easier to share information, Odyssey Interactive have been using Interact, its Intranet product, to provide a range of HR services through the Intranet. Its customers can now join staff discussion boards, create an employee handbook online, advertise internal job vacancies, create employee surveys and book holidays online.

At the British Film Institute, all 400 members of staff can book free cinema tickets online through the organisation’s intranet. This not only serves as a company perk, but also works as an incentive to drive staff onto the Intranet where they will also come across other important company information.

With Interact it is also possible to give the HR department control over the Intranet. At the Lancashire and South Cheshire Association, HR representatives are able to monitor who has not read circular memos, ensuring that everyone is aware of company news and important changes to procedures. They are also able to measure Intranet usage levels enabling them to take action when employees start to lose interest in the site.
