Awarding E-xcellence at select appointments

eBusiness manager wins top award

THE INTEGRAL role of eBusiness in recruitment was recognised as Jonathan Way, eBusiness manager at national staffing services company Select Appointments, was recognised for his contribution to the company at their recent annual awards conference held in Nottingham.

The Special Award for Excellence was presented to Jonathan for his contribution to the development of Selectís online services for clients and candidates, together with a cheque for 1000. Selectís vision is to use technology effectively to add value to client and candidate relationships, to create internal efficiencies and strengthen communication.

Jonathan joined Select as a web developer in October 2002 and his first responsibility was to build the Select website: www.select.co.uk to service the candidates and clients that prefer to approach Select online. The new site has attracted almost 28,000 jobseekers on-line, was shortlisted for Website of the Year at the annual Recruitment and Employment Confederation awards and voted 5th out of 160 sites within the Vedior staffing services group by a panel of external website auditors.

Whilst maintaining and enhancing Select Appointmentsí website, Jon has built the new Select Accountancy website: www.selectaccountancy.co.uk and developed the company intranet, Selectís main vehicle of internal communication, to include on line bonus calculators, employee satisfaction questionnaires and e-cards.

His latest project has been developing an on-line timesheet system for a group company and his skills are constantly in demand for new e-ventures.

Jon said of his award: ìIím immensely proud that my work has been considered for this award, as there are many deserving excellent people in the Select team. Seeing the websites and intranet services bringing added value to both candidates and clients gives me great satisfaction and Iím looking forward to developing further services that will bring even more added value.î

Diane Martyn, managing director of Select, said: ìJonís contribution to this company is without a doubt, absolutely essential to our business. He has helped us to develop our online business immensely since joining, and now more than 2000 candidates post their details on line each month.

ìWith Jonís support and expertise we have been able to develop internal and external online solutions to enable Select to grow our business and create technological efficiencies.

ìJonís recent promotion to eBusiness manager demonstrates the value we all hold for him. He embodies the values that we hold here at Select of quality, professionalism and integrity and I have no doubt that he will continue to be an integral part of building the business further in the future.î

The whole day was designed to be inspirational and the conference also included all 320 delegates participating in an African drumming session with the help of Drum Cafe, bringing the team together in harmony.

In the evening a ë70s disco was held, with most delegates sporting fancy dress from the era.
