21% have shouted at their boss in anger

With only one month left to go, National Hug Your Boss Day reveal that 21% of employees have shouted at their boss in anger!

TipTopJob, the online job portal who created the day back in 2008, surveyed over 1,000 employees last week as part of their process to collate data surrounding workplace relationships. 21% admitted that they had shouted at their boss in anger at some point which highlights an element of negativity in the working environment rather than a positive, happy one being promoted.

National Hug Your Boss Day is being celebrated this year on Friday 9th September which aims to define and highlight healthy working relationships as well as build and develop successful and effective relations across the workplace. Numerous studies have shown that a company’s productivity and staff morale and motivation is hindered by poor relationships with managers and staff and between colleagues. Just one study found that 86% of staff felt that if they “liked” their boss then they would be more productive. TipTopJob and National Hug Your Boss Day are committed to researching, highlighting and addressing these important issues.

Corinne Hutchinson, Careers Expert at TipTopJob.com comments, “In our 8th year of celebrating National Hug Your Boss Day we continue to offer careers advice to managers and employees on how to better their relationships at work. We have a host of new articles on our website that help to address various issues. We are looking forward to another busy day on the 9th of September where we will see pictures and videos being shared across social media. This year we will be rewarding the hug that lasts the longest!”
