Over 30 Years of Global Assessment Data Made Available Online – Giving Businesses unrivalled access to Intelligence Data on People Performance and Potential and a Unique Ability to Benchmark Talent Globally

SHL, the leader in talent assessment solutions and a global authority on the science of people in the workplace, today announces the launch of SHL Talent Analytics. The first-ever offering of its kind, SHL Talent Analytics draws on the largest global database of scientifically-based talent assessment data and intelligence available today. It provides companies with answers to the most critical talent questions – from the effectiveness of recruitment and employee development strategies to industry and regional comparisons on how their workforce stacks up against the competition.

As increasing numbers of organisations seek to improve the effectiveness of their talent programmes, amidst some of the toughest market conditions in decades, many find they lack the ability to determine how they are performing relative to competitors and their industry as a whole.  SHL Talent Analytics bridges this gap – benchmarking talent potential globally against industry norms, and providing evidence-based and scientifically researched data to give businesses the actionable insight they need to make effective talent management decisions. For the first time, SHL will be making this available via a user-friendly online database from early 2012. Analyst support will also be provided to help clients derive competitive advantage from the data.

“Most organisations recognise people are their most important asset, but few have real insight into employees’ future potential or where the company workforce sit against competitors,” said David Leigh, CEO of SHL. “We have seen a growing demand for intelligence that can help businesses make better talent recruitment and development decisions, and most importantly, measure those decisions in the context of their competition and the industry as a whole. SHL Talent Analytics™ provides an unrivalled view of the workforce – enabling any company to pinpoint areas of strength, improvement, and competitive differentiation in talent programmes and provide genuine people intelligence that can inform business strategy.”

Commenting on the launch, Mollie Lombardi, Human Capital Management research analyst at Aberdeen Group said: “One of the keys to making a solution like this a success is having the talent database to support it, something SHL’s long standing relationships with a wide range of global clients uniquely positions them for. SHL Talent Analytics can be a powerful tool to help companies think differently about talent, and make human capital – and managing human capital risk – a critical ingredient of business success.”

For over 30 years, SHL has been capturing People Intelligence data on the effectiveness of employees at work – from operational front line staff, to executive leaders in both the private and public sector, and across all industries around the world. With SHL Talent Analytics, companies now have the ability to drill even deeper into their specific talent data, benchmarking it against a robust, user-friendly database segmented by geography, industry, and business function. As a result, organisations can gain key insights into the talent they attract and their on-the-job performance, as well as their employees’ management and leadership potential – which can lead to significant performance gains across the company, and stronger overall competitive positioning.

Dr. Katherine Jones, Principal analyst and Director, Human Capital Management, Bersin & Associates, said that organisations often lack data to benchmark their workforce against others in terms of hiring quality, leadership potential, and even propensity to take risks. “Now more than ever,” said Jones, “businesses seek a predictive analytics solution to help them understand how their workforce measures up to employee groups in like companies and geographies.”
