SHL Launches iPQTM

Market-leading behavioural assessment now accessible via iPhone making it easier for candidates to use

SHL is leading the way in next generation talent assessments by taking its market-leading behavioural assessment, the Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ), to the iPhone, further enhancing the candidate experience, by making it even more convenient for individuals to complete wherever they are.

The iPQTM, which is the first scientifically robust assessment of its kind available as a downloadable iPhone app, allows users to take the assessment just as they would on a PC or laptop, or using paper and pencil. After completion their handset connects to SHL servers generating a feedback report which goes to the handset.

Initially, candidates will have the option to pay for the app themselves, complete the OPQ assessment and receive a careers guidance report sent straight to their iPhone suggesting possible employment choices based on interests, personality and transferable skills as identified by the OPQ. This application is expected to be available at the end of the year.

Ongoing developments will see mobile assessment completion integrated into the full employer recruitment process. Andy Ross, Chief Information and Technology Officer at SHL said, “By giving applicants the option to complete assessments via an iPhone, our clients have another channel to reach out to potential employees, and for some it may be a more convenient one. This is in line with our own research which shows a positive recruitment experience is central to building and maintaining good employer brand.”

Ross continues, “Innovation is a huge part of what we offer our customers so we need to be where our candidates are to ensure we reach out to them in ways that suit their needs. Making assessments available on mobile devices is a natural movement for us and one in which we will continue to invest in.”

Other innovations from SHL include the new video-based Situational Judgement Tests. These have been designed to help businesses when volume recruiting by giving candidates filmed questions played out by actors to help them decide if the job is really right for them. SHL customises each video so it is tailored for the industry and company and cartoons or avatars can be used in place of actors depending on the needs of the business.
