Leading UK job site, reed.co.uk, has launched a feature-packed new mobile website, created to give jobseekers a fully optimised experience across a broad range of devices and browsers.

The new service, developed by reed.co.uk’s in-house product team, includes full job search and filtering options, ‘save for later’ and ‘email job’ functionality and recommended vacancies. Jobseekers can also apply for vacancies, edit cover letters and download their current CV.

Martin Warnes, Managing Director of reed.co.uk, comments:

“Like all of our products, our new mobile site has an outstanding user experience at its core.

“Whether a jobseeker is prompted to reach us from an email or a tweet, via a Search Engine or by coming directly to the site, we wanted to create the smoothest, most efficient journey we could. With this latest development, we believe we’ve created a best-in-class mobile jobseeking experience.”

The launch of the mobile site comes six months after the successful release of reed.co.uk’s market-leading desktop site, which has helped the service to generate over 10 million job applications and more than 30 million visits so far this year.

However, it is not the company’s first mobile venture: in what now seems like a development from a different age, reed.co.uk first launched a WAP version of the service in 2000 and was the world’s first job site to offer text alerts.

Warnes continues:

“Whilst the world wasn’t quite ready for jobseeking on-the-go at the beginning of the century, there can be absolutely no doubt that it is now.

“With more than 3.8 million users visiting reed.co.uk each month, providing a service that can be consumed wherever a jobseeker is, using whatever device they choose, is fundamental to our service both now and in the future.”

More than 10,000 recruiters are currently advertising vacancies on reed.co.uk, with over 124,000 new jobs added in April.
