Peter Finch, Vice President, Greater China, SHL

Peter, an economics graduate from the UK, is a seasoned veteran of “China business” and has held senior management positions in Greater China for over a decade. His main focus has been in bringing companies into China and driving their on-going business development.

Peter came to the region with the TetraLaval Group in the mid nineties, where he was regional Managing Director of two of the group’s companies. He was responsible for successfully bringing his companies into China and building one of them to be the division’s largest revenue contributor in the world.

He later brought the UK company, SEAL, to China & Asia, before taking an opportunity to work within the ‘People’ & ‘Talent’ domain by joining SHL. Peter credits his past success on having the right people in the right jobs and understanding personality and behaviours at work. Thus the opportunity in 2002 to join SHL, the world leaders in defining competencies, measuring abilities, and understanding behaviours, was for Peter an un-missable opportunity.

Since 2002 Peter has spearheaded SHL’s vision to make Objective Assessment more accessible, by providing behavioural tools that are more readily applicable to work-based competencies, and on-line ability tests that are relevant and suited for China.
