In 1980 he formed the Ramer Group, a recruiting firm that specialized in placing Data Security Executives in major financial institutions.
In 1986 he launched the Recruitment Research Institute and served as Executive Director. During his time at the Institute, he published a newsletter for the Human Resources community entitled The Alternative Employment Marketplace. He also gave seminars throughout the US on “Improving Quality and Reducing Costs Through the Alternative Employment Marketplace.” Much of the Institute’s research was published and distributed by The Bureau of National Affairs.
In 1988 Don launched the Employment Management Group, a high-level management consultancy that specialized in helping large employers improve their recruitment processes. In addition to intensive review of recruitment and selection effectiveness, the EMG team planned, directed, organized and controlled recruitment and selection strategy, tactics, and operations on behalf of clients in the telecommunications and enterprise software industries.
