Relationships between schools and employers are set to become more effective in helping young people make better career choices, with the launch of the School Leaver Conference.

AllAboutSchoolLeavers is hosting the first School Leaver Conference on Wednesday 26 October 2016, bringing together industry experts, schools, employers and empirical evidence for the first time. The School Leaver Conference will cover topics such as the new Apprenticeship Levy, corporate social responsibility, and diversity.

“We are really excited to host the first School Leaver Conference,” said Jack Denton, co-founder of AllAboutSchoolLeavers. “The biggest names in the school leaver market are attending, working towards building stronger relationships and providing a sustainable way for employers and schools to interact.

“Using AllAboutSchoolLeavers’ research into the school leaver market, which we carried out in association with YouGov, attendance to the School Leaver Conference is imperative for anyone involved in this increasingly important field.”

The one-day event will bring together schools and employers with organisations such as The Careers & Enterprise Company and BPP Professional Education. The latter are also sponsoring the conference. The School Leaver Conference will provide vital information and insights on a range of issues, as well as a platform for discussion.

It is designed to be especially helpful to employers who are running, or planning on running, apprenticeship schemes. It will be equally useful for those who provide careers advice to school and college leavers.

Speakers and panelists include a range of experts:

  • Claudia Harris, CEO of The Careers & Enterprise Company
  • Jayne Cullen, Business Director, Entry Level Talent, TMP Worldwide UK
  • Steve Keith, Employer Brand and School Attraction Manager, EY
  • Sarah Hathaway, Operations Manager, Association of Graduate Recruiters
  • Karen Kelly, Associate, Amazing Apprenticeships Ltd

There will be panels, talks and workshops on the following topics such as:

  • Building relationships with schools
  • The Apprenticeship Levy
  • Reaching parents
  • CSR and diversity
  • Careers advice and classroom teachers
  • Decision making for young people
  • The role of school leaders
