Business professionals deliver 564 hours of free advice

Business professionals across the UK teamed up to deliver 564 hours of free advice to small charities on Big Advice Day of Small Charity Week.

A range of volunteers from the accountancy, HR, retail, finance, communications and legal sectors came together at the Foundation for Social Improvement’s Advice Hub at City Hall and at events across the UK to offer free tailored one-to-one advice to small charities across the country.

The event coincides with new research ‘Collaboration: More than the sum of the parts’ launched by the FSI in Small Charity Week which encourages small charities to collaborate more in order to prevent closure. One in ten small UK charities see closure as likely*, yet less than 10 per cent are collaborating at a significant level with other charities to pool resources and deliver services**.

Professionals from Friary West, Ansvar Insurance, Lloyds Bank, Kreeston Reeves, Clore Social Leadership, Shoosmiths, Goldsmith, ASOS, Blackbaud and many more were among those who shared their expertise with small charities.

Pauline Broomhead, CEO of the FSI the charity behind Small Charity Week said:

“We are delighted with the number of businesses that donated their time to help small charities. Our collaboration research highlights that although small charities are good at networking within their sector, they are not collaborating with other industries to any meaningful degree.

Big Adice Day is a great way to bring together businesses and small charities to help set the wheels in motion. We hope that the day provided a platform for small charities to continue to collaborate and grow.”
