Vacancy Filler is Top of the Class at Loughborough Endowed Schools

Loughborough Endowed Schools (LES) a charitable foundation consisting of four independent schools with over 2,000 students, has adopted the Vacancy Filler online recruitment system to help manage the volume of job applications it receives, while addressing the high cost of advertising and recruitment agency fees.

Prior to deploying the Vacancy Filler software, all LES recruitment was paper-based.   LES had used a limited number of job boards and had tried LinkedIn, but results were mixed.  It was clear that an electronic system could not only provide an automatic audit trail but also speed up the appointment process and reduce reliance on paper.

Richard Smeeton, IT Director at Loughborough Endowed Schools, took the lead to implement an online recruitment system with the target of achieving a payback within 12 months, whilst reducing the burden of paperwork involved in recruitment.  Other aims of an online solution included improving and streamlining the recruitment process.

Richard said, “We looked at other systems but did not find them as cost-effective as Vacancy Filler.  We liked the way that Vacancy Filler integrated with the Foundation’s own website, maintaining the look and feel of its pages even though the software is hosted in the cloud.    The system  will be particularly effective in recruiting for IT and professional posts, saving a considerable  amount of time for the hiring managers whilst enhancing the candidate experience. “

He continued,  “While we will still use specialist press advertising for some roles, the access to multiple job boards through the system allows us to reach a wider range of candidates so that we can find those of the highest calibre.   We can shortlist much more precisely and fairly using numeric scores from tests and we now have the facility to retain a ‘talent pool’ for future roles.”
