Prospects helps graduate recruiters fight ad blockers

Prospects has become the first graduate recruitment media owner to diminish the effect of ad blockers by using non-display forms of advertising, so employers can be confident that their campaigns will be displayed regardless of the device used.

Prospects.ac.uk has relaunched with a new Prospects Card system, which houses paid-for content such as advertorials and case studies. This approach means that careers advice and information can be seamlessly blended with advertising to ensure a harmonious user experience. It overcomes challenges advertisers face surrounding user propensity to ignore banner ads or use ad-blocking software.

The new card system has been informed by an unprecedented commitment by the company to user-focused research and development. As such it delivers paid-for content relevant to the context of the page being viewed.

The new approach is part of a complete reinvention of prospects.ac.uk. New content, design and navigation have been developed based on how students and graduates use the site. As well as a striking new look and feel, the market-leading website has been optimised to deliver the same high-quality experience to users irrespective of the device they use.

Sarah Brookes, marketing director at Prospects said: “More than a third of 18-25 year olds use advert blocking software*, so a significant proportion of a graduate recruiter’s target audience would not see their advert through traditional display methods. Our display advertising options will continue, but will be complemented by a brand new offering that helps employers fight ad blockers.

“Everything we do is driven by user experience research and testing. Our UX team includes researchers and designers who turn research outcomes into prototypes. Our audience shapes the products and services they use, providing them with the best possible career planning and job hunting tools while delivering a more effective advertising platform for businesses.”
