15/04/2005 10:38:00

Adecco, the UK’s largest recruiter, today tops a poll as the most productive agency working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus. Centres around the country rated Adecco as the most effective recruitment agency in filling vacancies in a new survey commissioned by the Jobcentre Plus organisation.

The research, entitled ’A Survey of Partnership Activity’ 2004/05’, asked 390 respondents at centres across the country about their relationships with external recruitment agencies over the last year. The key findings from the research show:

·Helping hand - 23 percent of Jobcentre Plus offices receive support from recruitment agencies in placing staff

·Back to work - Recruitment agencies have the most success placing people who are long-term unemployed

·Sector specific - Agencies were most successful in placing candidates in the manufacturing, construction and contact centre sectors

·Talk, talk - 82 percent rated open communication as the most important element of a successful agency relationship, with understanding objectives a close second with 75 percent

Steven Kirkpatrick, Chief Operating Officer of Adecco UK and Ireland, comments, "Adecco is delighted to be ranked as the number one partner for Jobcentre Plus. Our ethos is based around community recruitment, making our branches accessible to local jobhunters and tailored to local job opportunities. Our branches are actively tasked with building relationships with local jobcentres to improve the range and scope of candidates we can offer, and this survey shows the benefit of that approach."

The research highlights the growing role that recruitment agencies are playing at a local level to target unemployment. Eighty-one percent of centres found that using Jobcentres as a place to conduct interviews by recruitment agencies was the most successful method of collaboration.
