16/05/2008

Graduates Yorkshire - the dedicated recruitment website for matching employers in Yorkshire & Humber with graduate talent from the region’s universities – has launched as a stand alone social enterprise business.

Are you involved in recruiting or HR? If yes, you should think about attending the Onrec.com Online Recruitment Conference & Exhibition - Topics and Speakers listed here. Complete this enquiry form and a member of the Onrec.com team will be in touch.

Regional development agency Yorkshire Forward previously funded Graduates Yorkshire which is jointly owned by the region’s ten universities.

The company offers a range of recruitment-based services to provide all the information and support that graduates and employers need to find each other.

Graduates Yorkshire Chief Executive Martin Edmondson, said: “As an independent social enterprise the prospects for Graduates Yorkshire are very encouraging given the service we deliver to employers in the region.

“Through our website we recently advertised our 25,000th candidate in a job with one of the region’s major employers and more and more employers are using our services.”

Graduates Yorkshire’s emergence as a social enterprise follows a recent warning that the region’s ambitions to boost the knowledge economy is threatened by its failure to retain more graduate talent, according to a new research report Graduate Economies in Britain.

Tom Riordan, Chief Executive of Yorkshire Forward, said: “During the last five years, our support of Graduates Yorkshire has seen the scheme help many graduates into work within some of our region’s top businesses.

“By encouraging so many graduates from the region’s universities to seek employment in Yorkshire and the Humber, Graduates Yorkshire is helping to retain crucial sector skills which will ultimately make us more competitive nationally and internationally.”

Martin Edmondson, said: “For many in business and industry the use of knowledge to produce economic benefits will be crucial to compete and grow. We see graduates playing a central role in this transition, providing employers with a huge resource just waiting to be tapped and promising a high value return.”

Operating in partnership with the region’s ten University Careers Services, Graduates Yorkshire offers a range of recruitment-based services including low cost vacancy advertising, enhanced adverts, bespoke recruitment packages and candidate CV search and CV Match through the sites database.

In addition to providing all the benefits of a large jobsite, Graduates Yorkshire also offers a number of services that are delivered locally by the region’s universities. Graduates Yorkshire has more than 14,000 graduates registered to the website and has managed more than 25,000 vacancies in the region.
