New website will help thousands unhappy in their jobs

26/04/2007 10:36:00

48% of people claim to be unhappy with their job.*

60% of people between 25 and 35 feel unfulfilled by their careers and more than half are actively looking for different jobs.**

This is costing the economy billions of pounds every year***

Hundreds of thousands of people are changing their careers every year, not because they have to, but because they want a job that excites them. Many more are unhappy in their career and want to change, but either don’t know what they want, or how to get there. Until now there has been little help available.

Careershifters.org is a ground breaking new service which provides practical advice, inspiration and connections, and support for people on every step of their career-shift journey. It has been created, and is written and run, by a group of people who have been through this very process and recognised the need for this service.

The website includes;

hundreds of inspirational case studies of people who have successfully made changes in their own careers (including a business consultant who became a polar explorer, a charity fundraiser turning to art, and a policeman who switched to teaching, among many others.)
blogs from individuals who are in the process of shifting
access to no-nonsense advice from qualified career coaches, and
free consultation with a Shift Doctor, on hand to answer questions online.

The official launch of Careershifters.org will take place from 6.00-8.30pm on Wednesday 25th April, at a Careershifters.org ’s ’Reignite your Career’ workshop, held at The Hub, Angel, London EC1V 1NQ.

The event is designed to kick-start successful career-shifts. It will feature career-shifters who have taken the plunge - inspirational stories by inspirational people, top career coaches giving advice and tips, and many networking opportunities for potential career shifters.

Careershifters.org aims to become the most trusted, authoritative, inspirational community for anyone planning or going through a major career change.

Richard Alderson, founder of Careershifters.org, said:

" Record numbers are no longer willing to settle for a job that makes them unhappy. Our mission is to help people create careers that make them jump out of bed in the morning rather than dreading the coming day.

"You could be an accountant who wants to be a polar explorer, or a sales rep with ambitions in journalism. Whatever your dream, we’re here to help. If we can make people feel more fulfilled by what they do on a day-to-day basis, we can also make them happier, healthier people, able to contribute more to the world around them."

Marianne Craig, life coach and creator of the Fireworks coaching programme said:

"Careershifters.org offers a terrific range of inspiring resources. Its value lies in its independent stance, together with much practical guidance and encouraging approach. I whole-heartedly recommend Careershifters.org to anyone thinking about career transition."
