ONS figures comment: Jobsite reacts

Jobsite CFO, Phil Lightbody said:

“As the end of the financial year approached, we saw the number of vacancies rise versus last year at their highest rate so far for 2017. The fact we’re seeing this whilst unemployment is at a low demonstrates that businesses are continuing to expand.

Despite the increase in vacancies, competition for these roles is growing even stronger with job applications up as much as 40% on last March. This could be due to this year’s graduates looking to begin their job searches earlier to get ahead of the game, making the second quarter of the year a great time to think about hiring emerging talent. “
