The renowned World of Learning Conference brings together the industry’s leading innovators to provide learning and development (L&D) professionals with up-to-the minute overviews of major trends.

The two day event is part of the World of Learning Conference and Exhibition taking place on 1 and 2 October at Birmingham’s NEC. It brings together extensive research combined with authoritative input from key industry figures through a series of seminars, sessions and panel debates. The world class speakers are set to provide valuable insight and inspiring case studies from major businesses including DHL and GE to demonstrate best practice and latest developments in the industry.

The breadth of subjects explored at the conference range from the future of L&D and tomorrow’s technology; delivering value and L&D’s strategic role in transforming the business; through to talent management and cultivating leaders to deliver future growth and success.

The conference will be chaired by Reeta Chakrabarti, the BBC’s Education and Social Affairs Correspondent, a renowned broadcaster whose career includes several years reporting politics from Westminster.

The opening address of the conference, ‘L&D’s strategic role in transforming the business’, will be delivered by Rick Jackson, Vice President, Head of CIS at DHL Express. Rick, who is responsible for the company’s worldwide engagement programme, will share how creative concepts were deployed to engage over 100,000 employees.

On the second day of the conference, Sameena Bashey will discuss how to deliver world-class L&D in a global business with multiple functions through her talk, ‘Leading a global organisation through learning and development’. In her keynote address, Sameena, Country HR Director, UK & Ireland at GE Healthcare, will give an insight into the award-winning leadership development at General Electric (GE).

Dr Maren Deepwell, chief executive at the Association for Learning Technology, the UK’s leading membership organisation in the learning technology field, will close the conference with her address – ‘Learning for tomorrow’s technology and tomorrow’s workforce’.

New for this year are a series of fringe seminars, designed for those who work or collaborate with L&D decision makers, from sales directors to heads of customer service and line managers, to newcomers in the L&D profession. They cover valuable topics such as ‘The value of accredited leadership training’, ‘Optimising sales performance through effective learning’ and ‘Making an impact in your new training role’.

Also new for 2013 is the Executive Networking Dinner. Held at the Crowne, it promises to be an enjoyable evening for delegates at the end of the first day. Platinum delegates are invited to attend the dinner on a complimentary basis.
