Training brought to BT MarketSite - 11/2000

Electronic learning

World of Training, (www.worldoftraining.com) the learning marketplace on the Internet, has announced that it has become the first training marketplace to join BT MarketSite, the real time trading community for indirect procurement from BT Ignite Application Services, the application service provider (ASP) unit of BT Ignite. Customers such as BT, Powergen, Xaman and Miller Freeman will now be able to quickly pinpoint appropriate courses, determine their relevance through instantly available reviews from previous delegates, establish availability, book and pay in a simple and secure Internet transaction.

BT MarketSite, licensed from Commerce One, is a real-time trading community that links buyers and suppliers through an extranet. It is an electronic marketplace for UK businesses aimed at automating the indirect procurement and maintenance, repair and operation (MRO) process. It dramatically reduces purchasing costs through a secure line of communication between buyers and sellers, reducing the time taken to order and level of human error whilst maximising employee productivity by reducing workload.

Courtenay Inchbald, head of eTrading at BT Ignite Application Services, said: BT MarketSite reduces the bureaucracy and cost of purchasing vital day-to-day items such as office equipment, staff clothing and stationery. Purchasing training can present extra problems as locating the right course in the first instance can be difficult. World of Training's solution overcomes this by providing direct access through a search facility to thousands of courses across a range of disciplines. By joining BT MarketSite this service will be available to a much greater audience.
