Session:
Creating a careers site tailored to the candidate experience

Direct Line Group has gone through a very unique experience by separating from an established, well-known company – RBS Group. Needless to say it was a massive endeavour, but it gave us the opportunity to do things ‘our way’ and leave behind systems and processes that weren’t necessarily fit for purpose as a stand-alone insurance company. One shining example of success has been our careers site. We created our new careers site with the desire to construct a candidate-centric site, including content and functionality to provide an exceptional candidate experience. To do this, our strategy and planning process included candidate personas, content sessions and market research. These investigations led to a site that includes videos, an application process feature, location map, self selection tool, and RSS feeds. The success of the site can be seen in the increased application volume, more site visits month on month, and our visitor to application ratio…not to mention our two award wins! We hope to continue our success and stay at the forefront through continuous improvements, and our new mobile site.

Session: Managing your employer brand in a social, searchable and mobile world

The digital revolution is increasing the level of challenge for companies in the area of employer brand communications. This presentation looks to explore three main themes which organizations across the globe are currently grappling with:-

  • How do you manage your reputation as an employer when you brand can be experienced, searched and talked about 24/7?
  • How do you evolve your communications to deal with the end of the broadcast model and monitor brand conversations across a bewildering array of formal and informal channels?
  • How do you ensure consistency of experience in a widgetized world of portable content with your potential hires making brand judgements at much earlier stages of the recruitment process?

The session will look beyond the jargon to examine emerging thinking on the employer branding and give you an opportunity to hear about real life examples from companies and organizations around the world.

Speaker: Lila Dowie, Dowie, Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager, Anthony Nolan
Session: Recruiting, matching and communicating with candidates in a different market

Anthony Nolan was the first donor recruitment register in the world and is the last hope for patients with blood cancers like leukaemia. Things have come a long way since the charity was founded in 1974, when our records were all hand-filed on index cards. Forty years on, the science behind how we recruit donors, the algorithms we use to match them to patients and, crucially, how we communicate them is both fascinating and complex.

We’ll share with you:

- Our successes and methods as the UK’s first and largest donor recruiter.
- How we track and measure the impact of individuals and campaigns
- Plus our challenges and learnings in an increasingly data-centric, mobile world.

Speaker: Belinda Johnson, Owner, Worklab
Session: The Fragmenting W
orkforce

Just in the UK alone, 42% of the workforce works outside the legacy ideal of full-time permanent employment. Whose choice is this? According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), 3 million people - around 10% of the UK's working population - want or need to earn more money. One of the key drivers for the introduction by HMRC of capturing Real Time Information (RTI) was to keep track of the increasing number of people who have multiple revenue streams. What does this work look like that they are piecing together to make their optimal whole? How significant is on-line / virtual work? This session will look at the way that organisational need for people to engage in work is fragmenting and what the implications are - from both a liberating and challenging perspective - for all of us.

Speaker: Pavlos Paschali, Specialist Employment Law Solicitor,

Pavlos has been with his firm since 2002 and qualified as a solicitor in March 2004. He regularly represents businesses in the recruitment sector dealing with both advisory matters and disputes. A full profile is available here.
