NHS Employers has said that today’s Shape of Caring Review report could help give care assistants the recognition and career opportunities they deserve. It was published today by Health Education England in partnership with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Danny Mortimer, chief executive of the NHS Employers organisation, said:

“Employers are especially keen to explore its recommendations on improving career and training pathways for care assistants.

“A great many care assistants have the talent and commitment to become nurses, and employers want to ensure that their ambitions can be realised. Developing clear, diverse entry routes is therefore vital.

“A wide range of organisations were able to contribute to this report. It includes important recommendations that could be taken forward to support quality care in future."
