The 100-day countdown has officially begun before Scantec’s Astounding Stellars tackle the unique Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge

The 100-day countdown has officially begun before Scantec’s Astounding Stellars tackle the unique Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge.

Expedition Leader and Divisional Manager of the Food Manufacturing Team (FMCG), Sara Frith will join up with Operations Director, Adam Spelman and two more intrepid consultants (Lucy Stokes and Tony Williams) from the FMCG Team at the specialist recruitment firm, for the exciting day-long adventure in Mid Wales.

On Saturday 13th June, the team will be dropped at a secret location near Lake Vyrnwy in Powys to begin a gruelling 65 kilometre cycling, kayaking and orienteering challenge through spectacular scenery, remote mountain ranges and rough terrain.

Scantec’s Astounding Stellars were invited to take part after Samworth Brothers opened out the challenge to participants from recruitment agencies for the first time since the launch of the event in 2007.

Sara and the team have worked with Samworth Brothers for almost a decade, sourcing specialist, interim and permanent recruitment services. The team will battle it out against 90 internal Samworth Group and external supply chain squads, checking in at base operations and checkpoints to gather points and gain momentum throughout the day.

Through sponsorship and a programme of fundraising, the team will raise money for Cancer Research UK and Claire House, a Wirral-based hospice that provides respite and end-of-life care for children and young adults with life-limiting medical conditions.

Sara Frith explained: “We are grateful to Samworth Brothers and delighted to have this opportunity to raise much-needed funds. With no guaranteed Government funding, Claire House needs to raise £2.9 million every year just to maintain their vital services. These figures have spurred us on to set individual fundraising targets and train hard to complete this life-changing challenge."
