Renewables specialist targets international growth as it marks first anniversary

A fast growing specialist renewable energy recruitment company has set its sights on growing its international client base

A fast growing specialist renewable energy recruitment company has set its sights on growing its international client base.

Hyperion Executive Search has already won and delivered projects with a number of global multi-nationals and recently secured its first fully retained international search assignment with Gloucestershire-headquartered Inazin. The company has also carried out key assignments for a number of other leading firms, including German-headquartered photovoltaics providers Hanwha Q CELLS, Sungrow and SMA.

Hyperion was set up a year ago by David Hunt, a leading figure in the renewable energy industry with the aim of matching the sector’s most successful companies with the best talent.

Unlike the majority of recruiters working in the sector, Liverpool-based Hyperion only works in the renewables industry.

Before setting up Hyperion, David was a director of a leading renewable energy installer. He is currently the Chair of Onsite Renewables for the Renewable Energy Association (REA) and was previously a member of the Parliamentary Renewable and Sustainable Energy Group (PRASEG).

David also previously worked extensively in the recruitment industry sourcing and placing candidates both nationally and internationally including Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East and United States.

Hyperion acts for clients and candidates across a comprehensive range of renewable energy sub-sectors including solar PV, solar thermal, heat pumps, biomass, wind turbines and fuel cells.

Specific disciplines the firm recruits for include general and senior management, sales and business development, operations and logistics, marketing, finance and asset management, design and installation at a senior level.

David said: “While there continue to be a number of uncertainties surrounding the renewables industry in the UK, there are exciting opportunities to increase our work on international assignments.

“There has been an upward trend in the amount of international work we are winning during the second half of our first year and we have a number of significant assignments in the pipeline.”

David added: “Clients have told us they like the fact we are not a ‘database agency’. Instead, we pride ourselves on knowing who the best candidates are and matching them with the right organisations when the opportunities arise. This includes our strong international networks.”
