Recruitment made e-asy - 02/2001

PeopleBank partnership

The luxury of getting many applicants with online recruitment can be outweighed by HR's increased workload. The challenge is to make it more effective. Virgin Atlantic Airways

The challenge to make the online recruitment process more effective for HR departments gets a boost with the partnership of PeopleBank, the first major Internet recruitment provider and PWA, leaders in human resources and payroll software. PWA customers will be able to link directly to PeopleBank's website enabling them to access a range of online employment services.

The partnership enables cost-efficiencies to be found, as well as recruitment-related processes to be eased, as PeopleBank's application forms can automatically transfer to PWA's Empower Recruitment system.

Virgin Atlantic Airways Recruitment Systems Controller, Darren Farr, comments, online recruitment is in its infancy but over the last year there's been a large increase of jobs advertised on the web. There are many benefits to on-line recruitment, partly because it is so much simpler for a candidate to press the 'send' button, rather than tailor and post a specific letter to a position advertised in a newspaper. For the Recruitment department, though, the luxury of getting many applicants can be outweighed by a process that is not e-capable. We still need to ensure that we receive quality applicants.

Peter Walker, Vice President of Sales for PWA, adds, Systems need to cope with seamless on-line recruitment processes - it's great for a company to advertise on-line, but handling all the responses effectively is essential. It makes links between companies like PeopleBank and PWA important to make the system more effective for all concerned.
