Qwiz launches online tests

Online solution for the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

Qwiz (UK) Ltd, has announced the availability of its fully simulated, online testing for the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL). Qwiz is the only competency assessment company in the UK offering ECDL tests to businesses in an Application Service Provider (ASP) model, which enables approved test centres to administer test questions in a safe and secure environment, emulating real life situations.

ECDL is a recognised standard of computing competence in Europe, certifying that the holder has the knowledge and skills needed to use the most common computer applications efficiently. The British Computer Society (BCS) manages and promotes ECDL in the UK on behalf of the ECDL Foundation.

The ECDL syllabus is designed to cover the key concepts of computing, its practical applications, and their use in the workplace and society in general. The syllabus is comprised of seven modules:

Basic concepts of Information Technology (IT)
Using The Computer and Managing Files
Word Processing
Spreadsheets
Database
Presentation
Information and Communication

The modules can be studied in any order to reflect each personís needs. Upon completion of the training programme, a test is given to certify mastery of each of the modules. After all seven modules have been passed, the test taker is awarded the internationally recognised ECDL certificate by the ECDL National Licensee, and by the BCS for the UK. The tests are taken at Accredited Test Centres. Companies can apply to be an Accredited Test Centre via the BCS.

ECDL is open to all the population and no prior skills or knowledge of computers is needed to study. There are currently 320,000 people involved in the programme in the UK, and that number is approaching 2 million globally. In the UK, approximately 66,000 people have passed their ECDL certificate.

At Qwiz, we are delighted to be part of this exciting and internationally recognised initiative. ECDL provides visibility of skills through a skills certification business model. Sesh Sukhdeo, VP for EMEA, Qwiz (UK) Ltd explains, ìECDL offers certification, providing clients and candidates with a new opportunity of quantifying and qualifying their IT knowledge, regarded as being key to corporate successî.

Qwiz can also offer fully simulated, interactive, computer based ECDL training, via ECDL approved courseware, to support the learning for this programme.
