Penna and Dstl wins Social Media Recruitment Campaign of the Year’ at the PPMA awards

Penna Plc, the global people management business, and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) won the ‘Social Media Recruitment Campaign of the Year’ at last night’s Public Service People Manager’s Association (PPMA) Awards

Penna Plc, the global people management business, and the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) won the ‘Social Media Recruitment Campaign of the Year’ at last night’s Public Service People Manager’s Association (PPMA) Awards.

As an executive agency sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, Dstl was struggling to attract talent due to the general public not being aware of the organisation and how they support front line troops. Ahead of the next graduate intake of 80 students, Penna helped Dstl to raise awareness of the organisation by supporting with rebranding their recruitment strategy, creating a Facebook page and an ongoing programme of content to engage applicants and refreshing their recruitment fayre materials.

David Thompson, head of regional development at Penna, said: “Kicking off the campaign in 2013/2014, Dstl saw a 50% rise in graduate applications for IT roles. At a time when there is a talent shortage in this field, we are really pleased with the results. The 2014-15 campaign has also yielded strong results.

“It’s great that the PPMA recognised our achievements with this campaign. The team has worked really hard to ensure Dstl’s recruitment campaign was modern, but effective and the social media strategy has been a real driver of that.”

Penna also congratulated partner Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council on their win in the talent management category, for the Talent Connect Project which delivered a game changing talent and succession plan and was commended by judges for creating a radically different approach to talent and succession planning.
