Men And Women Expect Differences - 09/2000

WetFeet Survey Examines Priorities

A recent survey by WetFeet.com highlights differences in attitudes and expectations between men and women. Women put greater emphasis on stable business strategies and team working environments for example.

With more than 1,600 university students surveyed, earnings differences were also found. Men expect to earn a salary of $55,950 whilst women expect $49,190. Though wage was of importance to both genders, men found the prospect of bonuses and shares a greater pull. Men expected bonuses to average $13,300, whilst women anticipated only $8,400. This correlates with findings that men prefer the idea of working in internet start-ups ñ 55% prefer the high risk company, whilst only 35% of women feel the same ñ their preferences concentrated on the entertainment and non-profit sectors.
