Internet use rising in Spain - 12/2001

Europemedia reports that 7 million Spanish people now have an Internet connection.

This data is from a report on the information society in Spain by Telefonica.

By 2005, 40 percent of Spanish people will have Internet access.

On the corporate side, 64 percent of Spanish companies had Internet access by the end of last year, up from 50 percent a year previously. A quarter of companies had their own website by year-end 2000.

Telefonica says that reduced prices for digital TV, wireless, and access devices will help to drive growth in Spanish Internet penetration.
