HR COMPANY LAUNCHES IN THE THAMES VALLEY

.

A personnel consultancy providing strategic advice and services to businesses across all market sectors launched today in the UK''s Thames Valley. STPC Human Resources (STPC HR) comprises of only fully qualified and highly experienced consultants who give professional, strategic and honest board-level advice and can then adapt to meet the needs of staff affected by company changes or newly implemented HR policies.

In the six months following 11th September almost 60% of FTSE 500 firms made staff redundant, and this trend looks set to continue. A recent report by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development indicates that 45% of organisations that have carried out redundancies during the past 18 months are planning to make further job cuts this year. However, many organisations are unaware of their legal obligations when announcing redundancies and risk expensive employment tribunal claims as a consequence. A failure to consult adequately during a collective redundancy exercise could result in a tribunal ordering organisations to pay up to 90 days pay to each redundant employee. This is in addition to each individual employee''s right to claim that they have been unfairly dismissed.

STPC HR consultants have extensive experience of managing the people requirements of business restructuring exercises, and are able to guide organisations through the minefield of employment legislation that applies when redundancies are proposed.

Sue Tonge, MD and Founder of STPC HR commented: During my 16-year HR career working for several blue-chip and SME organisations, I recognised that businesses of all sizes are increasingly requiring immediate access to expert and up-to-date HR advice and guidance. Yet, companies are finding it more and more difficult and costly to accommodate highly experienced internal staff who are completely up-to-date with HR issues and current employment legislation. However, they often prefer to work from within because of the confidentiality and understanding of the company required. So, STPC HR has responded to these two needs - our independence and wide and extensive experience and focus mean that we become the company''s trusted and independent authority on personnel issues, and at the same time, we offer the company a hands-on-approach and work as a part of the company''s team.

STPC HR advises on all personnel issues, including employment legislation, performance management, training and development, recruitment and selection, reward and remuneration strategies and communications initiatives. The company has particularly strong experience and knowledge regarding the HR issues involved throughout a company re-structure, such as when an organisation down-sizes by laying off tens or thousands of staff.

STPC HR already has clients from industries including logistics, pharmaceuticals, brand fashion labels, trade associations, management consultants, industrial components, storage, e-business, accountancy, and Public Relations. STPC HR works primarily with businesses employing between 20 and 4,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on our commercial understanding, which is vital because of the critical role HR plays in the company''s overall corporate strategy. The STPC HR team brings experience gained from a wide range of market sectors and this is backed by a thorough understanding of current employment legislation and all personnel disciplines, Tonge continued.
