HotLizard recruits Telstra to support online job hunt growth

Fully managed hosting capabilities combine high availability, scalability, performance and resilience

HotLizard, the online recruitment solutions specialist, has selected Telstra International to manage and host its IT Infrastructure, which supports over 200 online recruitment clients. Telstra’s managed hosting and multi-tiered environment in its London Hosting Centre - Docklands will accommodate HotLizard’s clients’ recruitment websites and jobs boards, which serve global audiences and receive over half a million website hits per week.

Telstra’s multi-server, tiered IT environment will support HotLizard’s development and management of a rapidly growing number of recruitment websites with a fully managed virtualised platform, designed specifically to maximize IT resilience and scalability and facilitate high performance and availability for its customers. The technology refresh and move to a managed platform will also save significant operational costs.

The service will handle heavy demands from in-bound traffic and assist a consistent 24/7 online experience for its clients’ site users. It will also enable HotLizard’s to scale up to meet the demands of its rapid growth, which currently totals almost forty new clients a year. To achieve this, the solution uses virtual servers which can rapidly scale to handle ever-increasing traffic, and multiple redundant systems to ensure business continuity. Enterprise-grade tier 1 storage will also be provided through Telstra’s resilient Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure.

With its core systems previously housed in a third party data centre with ageing legacy hardware, HotLizard’s IT department spent increasing time performing routine IT management and maintenance tasks such as updating software patches.  Telstra’s solution allows HotLizard to focus on its core business while Telstra designs the network architecture, manages core software updates, monitors and reports on the environments health, as well as maintains security and continuity of data.

HotLizard’s Customer Service Manager, Mr Matthew Brookes comments, “In a rapidly changing industry we face increasing demands on a global level and the ability to flex our business is paramount. The business depends on the quality and reliability of the supporting IT infrastructure, so using Telstra International’s expertise in managed hosting means we can focus on supporting our existing clients without worrying about these factors or restrictions on our capacity to attract more.”

Telstra International EMEA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tom Homer added, “The internet has transformed the recruitment industry, but the success of online recruitment services such as HotLizard, relies on 24/7 availability. This execution is testament to our capabilities in supporting and managing the IT behind demanding environments.”

The equipment used by HotLizard in Telstra’s London Hosting Centre - Docklands includes the latest high performance blade technology, resilient 10GB network infrastructure with intelligent load-balancing virtual appliances with front end web servers and resilient database clustered servers.
