HotJobs Super Bowl ad scores touchdown with jobseekers, critics

.

HotJobs.com Ltd. (Nasdaq: HOTJ), a leading recruiting solutions company and home of the countryís most visited career domain, posted major traffic surges during the 24-hour period following the broadcast of its fourth consecutive Super Bowl advertisement on Sunday, February 3.
HotJobs debuted its commercial, entitled ìParrot,î during Super Bowl XXXVI to an estimated 87 million viewers.

Less than three minutes after the ad ran, HotJobs.com traffic increased 173%.

For the 24-hour period following the adís broadcast:

- The number of new resume submissions increased 63% over the same 24-hour period a week prior.
- HotJobs.com page views jumped 35% over the same period a week prior.
- Jobseekers applied to 21% more jobs over the same period a week prior.

The spot won over critics as well. Among the critical feedback the ad garnered:

- In their fifth annual Super Bowl round-up, advertising experts at Michigan State University ranked ìParrotî fourth in the list of the ìTop 10 Touchdowns.î The rankings are used by media outlets as a gauge of a Super Bowl adís overall effectiveness.
- Advertising Age awarded the HotJobs spot 3.5 stars out of a possible 4, calling it ìvery, very clever.î

ìThe Super Bowl ad is a great way to kick off 2002,î said Dimitri Boylan, president and CEO, HotJobs. ìWe have come a long way since our first Super Bowl ad four years ago. Itís great to be able to offer our premium job searching and career management tools to millions of new jobseekers.î

ìWe have always seen a nice boost in site traffic in the hours and days following our Super Bowl commercials and this year was no exception,î said Marc Karasu, vice president, advertising and marketing, HotJobs. ìWe expect that, as in years past, we will sustain this traffic throughout the year.î
ìParrotî depicts a young woman in a job interview, during which she repeats, verbatim, each question the interviewer asks. The spot closes with the candidate now on the job - as a court stenographer. The message: ìFind Your Fit.î

In 1999, HotJobs invested over half of its 1998 annual revenue on a single Super Bowl TV commercial. That risky, and much publicized move, helped establish the HotJobs brand virtually overnight.
