The Royal College of Midwives today announced that their members voted to accept the Government’s pay offer made in January. It follows a similar announcement yesterday by the Royal Society of Radiographers. Together these results indicate that the current period of NHS industrial action may end

The Royal College of Midwives today announced that their members voted to accept the Government’s pay offer made in January. It follows a similar announcement yesterday by the Royal Society of Radiographers. Together these results indicate that the current period of NHS industrial action may end.

Responding to the ballot results, Danny Mortimer, chief executive of the NHS Employers organisation, said:

“These are positive results that give more hope of an end to months of industrial action, which would be a huge relief for many patients, staff and health services.

“If other unions follow suit I hope we can quickly move to exploring solutions, in partnership, to make the national pay system sustainable for the future.”
