End unaccountable statistics - 07/2001

Campaign led by Chrysalis and Rivals.net

A new campaign for all Internet sites to have their audiences audited by September 1, 2001, is being led by Chrysalis and Rivals.net, and is supported by media agencies and clients across the UK.

Campaign leaders have threatened to pursue a policy of ënaming and shamingí sites which refuse to have their statistics audited by this date.

The campaignís spokesperson, Marcus Leaver of Rivals.net, comments: ìAll sites chasing revenues should publish a recognised audit. The only way to change the perception that we are operating in the Wild West is to acknowledge how harmful not publishing figures isî.

He adds: ìPublish or be damned - stop trading on non-existent, out-of-date or made-up traffic figures.î
