The latest employment statistics published on the 19 March by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveal lots of positive highlights.

The highest regional employment rate in the UK of 79.9% was claimed by the South West.

More good news for the region shows the average advertised salary, based on jobs on www.allthetopbananas.com has increased in the last 12 months an impressive 5% or £30,596 to £31,592.

The South East had the largest estimated increase in workforce with a figure of 59,000.  

The average advertised salary for this region has also gone up in the last year, albeit slightly less at 4% or £31,098 to £32,068.

Other notable figures include:

  • East Midlands with the biggest proportion of production jobs — 14.5%
  • A record number of people working the NHS (1.67 million Dec 18).
