East Midlands businesses leading the way in workplace innovation

Free workshop to explore new workplace thinking.

An East Midlands based organisation is spearheading new ways of thinking about workplace practices and is inviting businesses in the region to a free workshop to learn from the practical experience of others.

‘Creating Innovative and High Performing Workplaces’ is an interactive workshop led by Professor Peter Totterdill, Rosemary Exton and Lesley Cramman from Nottingham based Workplace Innovation, the international not-for-profit organisation committed to spreading good practice in the workplace.

The event aims to demonstrate how a growing number of companies are transforming their working practices and culture in ways that lead to real improvements in productivity, performance, engagement and well-being.

Peter Totterdill said: “The East Midlands benefits from a wide range of businesses that are driving employee centred innovation forward but, while many others are sympathetic to workplace innovation ideas and greater employee engagement, they haven’t been exposed to the real business case for it.

“Delegates will hear practical examples of what works and what doesn’t work.  They will be able to explore workplace practices that lead to both high performance and high quality of working life and evaluate current workplace practices in their own companies against a series of case studies and benchmarks.”

Among other practical examples of ”what works” delegates will hear an in-person case study from Warren Glover, General Manager at Lindum Group. Lindum is a fascinating and inspirational example of transformation from a traditional construction company to a diverse and entrepreneurial organisation that seeks to draw on the full range of its employees’ talents and creativity. In the company’s own words, “the difference is our people”. The company consistently appears in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to work for list, often as the highest ranking construction company.

The half day event will also include an introduction to Fresh Thinking Labs, the international open source movement for workplace innovation which combines state-of-the-art Online interaction with In Person opportunities for knowledge sharing.

Workplace Innovation Limited will also be organising a series of In Person Fresh Thinking Labs events for companies in the East Midlands from January 2017 onwards.

The free of charge ‘Creating Innovative and High Performing Workplaces’ workshop will take place on Monday 7th November 2016 at the New Art Exchange in Nottingham commencing at 12.00 with a tour of the gallery space and buffet lunch.
