More than 1,000 college students and recent graduates responded to the question Based on current market conditions, would you still consider working for a dotcom? Following are the results:

Yes 40%
No 29%

Was never interested in the first place 31%

I would suggest that students closely look at the firm's profitability as a guideline on whether to work with a dotcom or not, said Chris Liban, senior environmental engineer at ThermoRetec Corporation. Also, try to secure pay as cash instead of stock options or similar securities.

Ken Ramberg, president of JOBTRAK.COM commented, The opportunity to work on a variety of projects and assume a significant amount of responsibility is still very appealing to college students. Many students feel that if ever, this is the point in their career that they can afford to take a few risks. In addition, if the dotcom were to fail, students are still confident that they will be able to land a job at a more traditional company.

One jobseeker said, Even if the company went under, it would still be a valuable experience.
