Digital Hiring and Big Data
James Neave, Head of Data Science, Adzuna
James has spent over 10 years working in the field of data analytics and predictive modelling. He is currently leading the data science function at Adzuna, a rapidly growing job search engine with a presence in 11 countries and over 5m user visits per month. Previously he has designed automated valuation models for property whilst at Rightmove and as Managing Director of CoreLogic Solutions. He also spent two years helping to set up Castle Trust, a new type of retail bank. James has an MBA from Cambridge and an engineering degree from Oxford.
Synopsis
James Neave will explain how the onset of digital hiring and big data is pointing to four major trends in the recruitment industry. This presentation starts with a focus on big data in the recruitment industry – a term that didn’t even properly exist until 2011. It aims to explain what big data is, why it matters f or online recruitment, and how digital hiring is changing the entire dynamics of the recruitment industry by forcing recruiters to move on from the CV.

I've spent 15 years in the online media space as a highly successful senior manager. I've led businesses of 250+ people in the UK and the US. Most recently I was CEO at fish4 and Managing Director at Monster.Co.UK. I've joined Johnston at the right time as local media is becoming the key driver of the whole SoLoMo upheaval being played out across the 'post desktop' space. I've started my own business, worked in startups and spent a year at NBC-TV; a division of GE, one of the largest corporations in the world. I most love opportunities to grow businesses - it's great fun, I'm good at it, it beats the alternative and it gives me the chance to move good people into new roles that will stretch and develop them. I'm quite proud of the vast number of people I have managed who have moved onto senior management positions. Noémi is a talent attraction, employer branding and recruitment Leader with ~8 years of experience within agency and corporate recruitment, including several years of people management experience. She joined PwC Hungary in January 2010. She is leading and driving the Hungarian recruitment team and their activities cover several areas from selection, talent attraction to employer branding, including experience candidates and graduate recruitment as well. Noémi also had the chance to spend some time in London gathering and sharing best practices from PwC UK teams. Additionally, as she is part of the PwC Global Recruitment Network she exchanges fresh ideas and initiatives from all over the world. Noémi is managing several projects about recruitment process efficiency, as well as employer branding in the CEE region. Noémi has started to build a coherent employer brand in the Hungarian labor market, first of all in order to achieve the „employer of choice“ position among graduates. If you think about PwC’s competitors, the Big4 consultancy firms, the distinction is not easy, that‘s why Noémi and her team had to create something unique, which resonates as much as possible with students’ interests. She believes that based on the rather challenging expectations of newer generations (X,Y,Z....), PwC Multipoly, their enterprise workplace simulation game proved to be a suitable solution for following the trends and stepping ahead of the competitors. That’s one of the key success factors of attracting talents. Why? Because it‘s fun playing with the game, it looks cool, it provides value and knowledge, but certainly not in a boring way.

Peter is currently expanding the client base of the online gamified solutions developed by Games for Business. He is also looking for professional partners to cooperate on joint projects, especially among HR consultancy firms. Peter has been involved in the development of gamification based solutions for HR purposes since 2010, including recruitment games for multinational corporations and higher education institutions. He participated in the recruitment and selection processes at a multinational corporation, and gained valuable experience as team leader. Peter has earned the Coursera Verified Certificate in Professor Werbach’s Gamification class. He enjoys participating at international conferences where he follows the latest trends in employer branding, recruitment, selection, and training.

Previously, Dan served as Senior Vice President of Yahoo! and General Manager of Yahoo! HotJobs, doubling revenue between 2002 and 2007. At Yahoo, Dan established a Yahoo and HotJobs partnership with a consortium of over 700 newspapers, today representing 41 percent of total Sunday circulation in the U.S. Prior to Yahoo!, he led the creation of Knight Ridder Digital, the Internet company of the world’s second largest newspaper publisher, serving as President and CEO. At Knight Ridder, Dan led the joint acquisition of CareerBuilder with Tribune, serving on CareerBuilder’s Board for three years. Dan holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School and a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles.
